Before Buying New Skincare for October: Three Things to Check Today

Before Buying New Skincare for October: Three Things to Check Today

Thank you for all that you have done today, and we hope you have also found moments to enjoy it.

Thank you, as always, for visiting MaryGraceSpa.

Today marks the beginning of October — and the beginning of a new month.

Here in Japan, the signs of autumn are gradually becoming more noticeable. The changing colors of the sky, the cooler air in the mornings and evenings, and the subtle transformation of the trees all remind us that a new season is arriving.

October also brings the colors and charm of Halloween.

Small pumpkins and warm autumn decorations begin appearing throughout the city, gently reminding us that even in the midst of busy days, there can still be a little room to notice and enjoy the season.

As a new month begins, we often think about our schedules, responsibilities, plans, and goals.

But perhaps we can also make room for something else.

A little time to care for ourselves.

Time to work.

Time to care for others.

Time to move toward our dreams and goals.

And also—

Time to return to ourselves.

Each of these moments is part of the life we are creating.

At MaryGraceSpa, through Beauty, Wellness, and Rest, we hope to gently support what we call Life Conditioning — caring for yourself as part of caring for the life you are building.

And today, we would like to begin October with Beauty.

Before Adding Something New This Season

When October arrives, you may find yourself thinking:

“Should I switch to autumn skincare?”

“Do I need more moisturizing products?”

“Perhaps I should buy a new serum?”

There is something wonderful about enjoying new beauty and skincare products.

But before adding anything new, perhaps take just a moment to ask yourself:

“How am I today?”

Rather than beginning with What should I add for autumn?, we can begin with a different question:

What does my skin — and what do I — need today?

At MaryGraceSpa, we believe that this simple moment of awareness can itself be a meaningful part of beauty and self-care.

1. Notice How Your Skin Feels After Cleansing

Before searching for a new skincare product, take a gentle look at your skin after cleansing.

Does it feel tighter than usual?

Are there areas that feel dry?

Are there places where oiliness feels more noticeable?

Does anything simply feel different from usual?

There is no need to immediately decide whether your skin is “good” or “bad.”

Simply notice how it feels today.

Even though we see our own face every day, we may notice something different when we give ourselves a quiet moment of attention.

2. Take Another Look at the Skincare You Already Use

Before purchasing something new, consider the products already in your daily routine.

Your cleanser.

Toner or lotion.

Serum.

Emulsion or moisturizer.

Cream.

A change of season does not necessarily mean that everything in your routine needs to change at once.

Introducing several new products at the same time can also make it more difficult to identify which product may be responsible if your skin does not respond well.

So before replacing everything, you might simply ask:

“What am I already using comfortably?”

That can be a thoughtful place to begin.

3. Look Beyond Your Skin — Consider Your Recent Lifestyle

The third thing to consider is not a skincare product at all.

It is your recent daily life.

Sleep.

Work.

Travel.

Meals.

Bathing habits.

Air conditioning in hotels and offices.

Time spent looking at your smartphone.

For frequent travelers and business professionals, there may also be flights, hotel stays, changing schedules, and time differences — environments very different from those at home.

Many factors can influence how our skin feels from day to day, so there is no need to look only to skincare products for every answer.

Instead, you might ask:

“What have my days been like recently?”

Beauty can become an opportunity to notice not only your skin, but your life as a whole.

This is part of what Beauty & Wellness means to us at MaryGraceSpa.

Life Conditioning Can Begin with Beauty

At MaryGraceSpa, we do not see beauty as something separate from the rest of life.

Noticing your skin.

Bringing your attention back to your body.

Taking time to be still.

Sleeping.

Creating a little time that belongs only to you.

Each of these can become a moment to return your attention to the person who is living your life:

You.

That is why MaryGraceSpa values the idea of:

Life Conditioning through Beauty, Wellness, and Rest.

Beauty does not always need to begin with the thought:

“I need to become more beautiful.”

Sometimes it can begin much more gently:

By taking good care of who you are today.

A Moment to Notice Yourself — Even While Traveling Through Narita

According to the latest figures released by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan welcomed 3,098,900 international visitors in August 2026. Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)

At Narita International Airport, Peach Aviation also began daily service between Narita and Seoul (Incheon) on September 20. Narita International Airport — Peach Narita–Seoul Service

And beginning October 25, United Airlines is scheduled to launch a new Narita–Chicago service, bringing the airline’s North American network from Narita to six routes. Narita International Airport — United Airlines Narita–Chicago Service

Throughout October, Narita will continue to be a place where people and their journeys intersect.

Travel.

Business trips.

Meetings.

Flights.

Returning home.

Every traveler has a “next” destination or responsibility.

Yet somewhere between one plan and the next, perhaps there can also be:

A quiet moment to check in with yourself.

A Facial Treatment Can Also Be Time to Return Your Attention to Yourself

During a seasonal transition, there may be days when you would like to spend some quiet time receiving professional beauty care rather than managing everything yourself.

On such days, a MaryGraceSpa facial treatment is one option.

Our facial treatments are not medical treatments and are not intended to diagnose or treat health conditions.

They are designed as a time for beauty and relaxation — an opportunity to bring gentle attention to your skin and to yourself.

A quiet moment to care for yourself with intention.

And of course, there may also be days when the best choice is simply to rest quietly in your hotel room or at home without booking any treatment at all.

That, too, can be meaningful Life Conditioning.

This October, What Will You Make Room For?

A new month has begun.

Your work schedule may become fuller.

You may set new goals.

There may be flights, meetings, business trips, or journeys ahead.

So when you open your calendar this October, you may see:

Work.

Meetings.

Travel.

Meals.

And among them, perhaps you can also make room for:

Time for yourself.

To care for yourself is to care for your life.

As this new month begins, there is no need to rush.

Move forward in your own way, and remember to include yourself in the life you are planning.

For everyone moving toward a dream or a goal.
Condition your life through Beauty, Wellness, and Rest.

With the colors of autumn around us, we extend our sincere gratitude for your continued trust and connection with MaryGraceSpa.

Happy October & Happy Halloween 🎃🍂

Music for a Quiet Moment

Sometimes we need music.

Sometimes we prefer silence.

Both are perfectly fine.

What matters is being able to choose the kind of rest that feels right for you that day.
