Make Room for Quiet Time in Your Schedule

September 23.

Today is the Autumnal Equinox Day in Japan — a seasonal turning point as summer gradually gives way to autumn.

It is also the final day of a long holiday weekend for many people in Japan.

Some are returning home from a journey.

Some are preparing to return to work tomorrow.

Some are staying at a hotel, waiting for their next flight.

And some may still be checking business emails, even on a holiday.

Today, rather than thinking about what else we need to do, perhaps we can consider something different:

Making room for time when nothing else is required of us.

When We See Open Space, We Often Try to Fill It

Imagine seeing 30 free minutes on your calendar.

Perhaps your first thought is:

I can answer a few emails.

I can review that document.

I can finish some shopping.

I can schedule one more meeting.

For people with significant responsibilities, an open space in the calendar can quickly become another opportunity to accomplish something.

Using our time thoughtfully is important.

But there is another question worth asking:

Does every open space need to be filled with productivity?

Perhaps not.

Leave Space for Yourself, Too

At MaryGraceSpa, we do not see wellness, beauty, and rest as separate from the rest of life.

There is the person who works.

The person who spends time with family.

The person who travels.

The person pursuing a dream or a goal.

Behind all of these roles is the same person:

you.

We schedule work.

We schedule meetings.

We schedule flights and journeys.

We schedule beauty appointments.

So why not schedule rest as well?

Rest deserves a place on the calendar, too.

Leaving a little space without another task can be one way of caring for yourself — and, in turn, caring for the life you are building.

Resting Does Not Mean You Have Stopped Moving Forward

For some people, the word “rest” can feel uncomfortable.

It may sound like:

“I am not doing anything.”

Or:

“I am not moving forward.”

At MaryGraceSpa, we see it differently.

Rest does not mean giving up on your ambitions, responsibilities, dreams, or goals.

Sometimes we create space precisely because we want to keep moving forward.

This is part of what we mean by Life Conditioning.

We do not suggest that rest or spa treatments medically improve professional performance, decision-making, or health conditions.

Our philosophy is much simpler.

Step away from work for a while.

Put your smartphone down.

Take a moment to notice your skin.

Bring your attention back to your body.

Lie down quietly.

Allow yourself to spend some time without thinking about the next task.

There should be room for moments like these in life, too.

As Autumn Begins, Observe Before You Add

A change of season often inspires us to begin something new.

New skincare.

A new wellness routine.

A new exercise program.

A new habit.

But before adding something new, perhaps we can first ask:

How am I feeling right now?

How does my skin feel?

Have I been cutting into my sleep?

Is my calendar becoming too full?

When was the last time I spent a little time quietly, without needing to accomplish anything?

At the beginning of a new season, self-care does not always have to mean adding more.

Sometimes it begins simply by noticing ourselves again.

Today’s Beauty & Wellness

Today, we are not highlighting one particular treatment.

Instead, we invite you to begin with a different question:

How would I like to spend time with myself today?

If you would like to give your skin some thoughtful attention, you might choose a facial treatment.

If you would like to step away from work and travel and spend some quiet time with your body, you may prefer Hawaiian Lomi Lomi or an aroma oil treatment.

After a journey that involved a great deal of walking, reflexology may be another relaxing option.

And if you prefer to remain clothed while taking time away from your schedule, our clothed Lomi Lomi-style body care may suit you.

Rather than beginning with the name of a treatment, begin with yourself.

What kind of time would feel right for me today?

That is part of MaryGraceSpa’s approach to:

Beauty・Wellness・Rest.

From the World to Narita. From Narita to the World.

Narita Airport connects Japan with cities around the world.

For many international travelers, Narita is not simply an airport.

It is a point between one chapter and the next.

Arrival and departure.

Business and home.

One country and another.

One meeting and the next destination.

MaryGraceSpa is located within this international gateway area, and that is precisely why we believe there should also be room for something other than simply rushing toward what comes next.

Check into your hotel.

Put down your suitcase.

Close your laptop.

Turn your phone face down for a while.

And perhaps:

Leave the time before your next commitment intentionally unfilled.

That, too, can be a meaningful way to spend your time in Narita.

A Simple Self-Care Ritual for Tonight

Rather than adding another new routine tonight, try keeping things simple.

1. Once you have finished the necessary checks for tomorrow, step away from your smartphone for a little while.

2. Create a quiet moment that feels comfortable to you — perhaps a warm bath, a cup of tea, gentle music, or simply sitting quietly.

3. When you look at tomorrow’s calendar, consider leaving a little space with nothing scheduled at all.

You do not have to do everything perfectly.

You do not have to transform your entire routine.

Perhaps the first step is simply this:

Do not leave yourself out of your own schedule.

Leave Room for Yourself.

Not every open space needs to be filled.

For everyone moving toward a dream or a goal.

Condition your life through wellness, beauty, and rest.

To care for yourself is to care for your life.

Make Rest Part of Your Schedule

Beauty, wellness, and rest do not have to be something you consider only if there is time left over.

They can be part of the schedule itself.

MaryGraceSpa operates by reservation only, and appointments are generally accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that submitting an online reservation request does not immediately confirm your appointment.

Your request is considered provisional until you receive an official confirmation from MaryGraceSpa.

As the number of appointments we can accommodate each day is limited, if you already know your preferred date and time, we invite you to check availability when planning your work, travel, and personal schedule.

Just as you make time for your next meeting, flight, or destination, you may also choose to make a little room for yourself.
